Weekend Shares 12

Has it really been a month since my last Weekend Shares? Time sure flies by when you’re having fun…or not! I’ve been hit by a nasty virus which has been making the rounds in my family, and doing multiple victory laps. I’m still recovering, but hopefully will be well again soon. In the meantime, I have moved on from my agency job to go freelance and to spend more time on Gather. I also managed to visit Seville for a few days which I will post about next time.

Polymail – I started using Polymail a few weeks ago and it has already become the default email client on my laptop and mobile. I am loving the email tracking, read later and one-tap unsubscribe features.

Life Learnings
Telling a good story is everything and 25 other lessons I learned as GM of Vine – Some great advice, especially on leading a team and management: Appreciation is your best tool for getting people motivated and bringing the best version of themselves. and Having and telling a compelling story is the most important thing you do as a leader. Also Make sure you’re doing the maximally impactful thing at all times.

Recommended Apps
Calm – An app to help you meditate. I’ve done the intro 7 Days of Calm (ok I admit I didn’t do it over 7 consecutive days…it may have taken me 3 weeks), but I want to practice mindfulness on a more regular basis and have started the next 21 day programme.

Parenthood
Why Co-Sleeping Is a Wonderful Thing – I co-slept with my son when he was a newborn and don’t anymore, but it’s so true that time is fleeting. He won’t always want to cuddle, so I’m going to enjoy these precious moments while I can 🙂

Kevin Costner on Building His Career, Positive Self-Talk, and Making Dances with Wolves Happen – I love Tim Ferriss’ podcast and really enjoyed this episode with Kevin Costner having been a big fan of his work when I was younger. The Explorers Guild sounds awesome, and I’ve ordered a copy!
